Soulbound Secures $4 Million to Revolutionize Web3 Social Gaming
Soulbound, a pioneering force in the Web3 social gaming landscape, has successfully raised $4 million in its latest funding round. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the company, which aims to reshape how gamers interact and engage within the blockchain gaming sphere.
Investment Round Highlights
The recent funding round, concluded in Q2 2024, saw notable participation from various prominent figures and organizations within the gaming and blockchain communities. According to Casey Grooms, co-founder of Soulbound, the investors included Blocklords CEO David Johansson, iAngels, Animoca Brands, Big Brain Holdings, NGC Ventures, Panony, and Delta Blockchain Fund, among others. This diverse group of backers underscores the strong confidence in Soulbound’s vision and potential.
“The investment will enable us to establish gaming partnerships, enhance social interactions, and expand our streamer bounties and social questing initiatives,” Grooms shared in an interview with GamesBeat.
Advancements and Future Plans
Based in Puerto Rico, Soulbound plans to use the newly acquired funds to advance its development efforts. The company is focused on integrating Twitch livestream capabilities for partnered games, refining user experiences, and preparing for its Token Generation Event (TGE) anticipated later in 2024.
Since its launch, Soulbound has experienced rapid growth, tripling its team to include experts in engineering, business development, and community building.

Evolution from Popdrip to Soulbound
Soulbound’s journey began with Popdrip, a platform centered around NFT sticker interactions and social content. However, the venture evolved into Soulbound, incorporating game questing elements to enhance its offerings. The platform officially launched in March-April and has seen significant growth, integrating new features like streaming and bounty programs.
“We moved away from the DAO model with Saga to create a more effective startup,” Grooms explained. Soulbound’s new interface, which includes a strong focus on game streaming, is set to go live this month, further solidifying its position in the social gaming arena.
Innovative Features and Community Engagement
Soulbound is redefining social gaming with features such as the “slapping” mechanism, which allows users to interact by placing stickers on posts. Artists can also benefit from the new sticker marketplace, providing additional revenue opportunities. The platform also plans to introduce an in-stream wager mechanism, where users can bet on various streamer actions, blending elements of Polymarket and Twitch.
“Gaming is no longer a solo experience,” said A.I. Mansbridge, CEO of Soulbound. “Soulbound acts as a bridge between traditional gaming and the expanding blockchain space, offering new ways for studios, gamers, and streamers to connect.”
The platform is currently onboarding two new games each week and has hosted successful streaming activations with Shrapnel and Echelon, drawing over 200 players and 10,000 minutes of streamed content.
“Gamers, streamers, artists, and developers are ready for a change,” Grooms added. “Soulbound is set to deliver an avant-garde social gaming experience that challenges the traditional community interaction model.”
Soulbound continues to expand its influence in the gaming sector, leveraging its innovative approach and investor support to push the boundaries of social gaming.
