“Chinese AI Startup Manus Secures Investment from Benchmark, Reaching $500M Valuation”

Chinese AI Startup Manus Raises $75M from Benchmark, Hits $500M Valuation

Major Funding Round Elevates Manus to Half-Billion Valuation

Manus AI, a rising tech startup from China focused on developing artificial intelligence agent tools, has successfully raised $75 million in a recent funding round. The investment, reported by Bloomberg, was led by the well-known Silicon Valley venture capital firm Benchmark and values Manus at approximately $500 million.

Global Expansion on the Horizon

According to Bloomberg, the company plans to leverage this fresh injection of capital to expand internationally. Citing sources familiar with the deal, the report notes that Manus is eyeing growth into key markets, including the United States, Japan, and countries across the Middle East.

This latest round marks a significant leap for the company. Manus’ valuation has increased fivefold, according to Bloomberg, following earlier funding of just over $10 million from major backers such as Tencent and HSG, formerly known as Sequoia China.

Product Launch and Market Reception

Manus drew attention earlier this year when it introduced a demonstration of its general AI agent technology in March. The product, designed to perform a range of tasks, generated notable buzz. However, in real-world testing by TechCrunch, the performance of the AI agent fell short of expectations: “it didn’t work quite as well as advertised.”

Following the demo, the company moved forward with a commercial rollout, offering paid subscription tiers priced from $39 to $199 per month.

A Rising Contender in the AI Arms Race

This new funding and the backing of a prominent venture firm like Benchmark signal growing investor interest in the rapidly evolving AI agent space. As Manus prepares to scale its operations and product offerings, the company appears well-positioned to become a serious contender in global AI development.
