Agile Robots Joins Forces with Google DeepMind in Latest Robotics Partnership

Strategic Alliance to Accelerate Intelligent Automation

Agile Robots has entered into a new collaboration with Google DeepMind, marking another significant step in the growing convergence of robotics and advanced artificial intelligence.

The Munich-based robotics company announced on Tuesday that it has formed a strategic research partnership with the AI lab. As part of the agreement, Agile Robots will integrate Google DeepMind’s Gemini Robotics foundation models into its robotic systems. At the same time, operational data gathered from these robots will be used to further refine and enhance the underlying Gemini AI models.

Expanding Industrial Applications Across Key Sectors

The partnership is focused on developing, testing, and deploying robots powered by Gemini models across a wide range of industrial environments. These include electronics manufacturing, automotive production, data centers, and logistics.

By combining Agile Robots’ hardware expertise with Google DeepMind’s AI capabilities, the collaboration aims to unlock more advanced, autonomous systems tailored for real-world industrial use.

Leadership Perspective on Market Potential

“Agile Robots has already installed over 20,000 robotics solutions worldwide, proving intelligent automation at scale,” Zhaopeng Chen, the co-founder and CEO of Agile Robots, said in the deal’s press release. “The huge opportunity ahead lies in autonomous, intelligent production systems that can transform entire industries. Integrating Google DeepMind’s Gemini Robotics models into our robotic solutions positions us at the cutting edge of this rapidly growing market.”

While the companies confirmed the partnership is long-term, specific details regarding its duration and financial terms have not been disclosed.

Strong Funding and Rapid Growth

Founded in 2018, Agile Robots has raised more than $270 million in venture capital funding. Its backers include major investors such as SoftBank Vision Fund, Xiaomi, and Midas Group, highlighting strong confidence in the company’s growth trajectory and technological capabilities.

Part of a Broader Industry Trend

This collaboration is the latest in a series of partnerships between robotics firms and Google DeepMind. Earlier this year, Hyundai-owned Boston Dynamics announced a similar agreement to leverage Google DeepMind’s AI foundation models in developing its next-generation humanoid robot, Atlas. Notably, Boston Dynamics was previously owned by Google between 2013 and 2017.

The trend extends beyond Google DeepMind partnerships. In early March, German startup Neura Robotics revealed a collaboration with Qualcomm, utilizing the company’s IQ10 processor series—designed for mobile robots and humanoids—as a reference platform for future robotic systems.

Why Robotics Partnerships Are Increasing

The rise in such collaborations reflects the complexity of robotics development, which requires deep expertise across both hardware and software domains. As companies push toward fully autonomous systems, partnerships allow firms to combine strengths—whether in AI, mechanical engineering, or processing power—to accelerate innovation.

The Future of Physical AI

Industry leaders increasingly view robotics as the next major frontier for artificial intelligence. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has pointed to “physical AI” as a key growth area, suggesting that intelligent machines capable of interacting with the real world will drive the next wave of technological transformation.

As a result, strategic alliances like the one between Agile Robots and Google DeepMind are expected not only to continue but to intensify in the coming years.
