Empowering Entrepreneurs with Capital and Expertise

Understanding DAI: A Member-Led Micro-VC Driving Early-Stage Tech Investments

Introduction to DAI

DAI is a unique, member-driven Micro-Venture Capital firm consisting of over 100 investors who share a common passion: supporting entrepreneurs and teams that have turned their ideas into customer-validated products with significant growth potential. Our focus is on early-stage technology companies that have already reached proof of concept, gained customer traction, and are poised for scaling.

Our team is fueled by energy, ambition, and determination to help these businesses achieve their goals.

Investment Strategy and Focus

At DAI, we specialize in making investments during the Seed and Series A rounds of high-growth technology companies. Unlike traditional venture funds, DAI operates as a fully-capitalized investment company rather than a fund, which allows us to work more directly with companies to provide the support they need. Our angels include seasoned investors, successful tech entrepreneurs, venture fund partners, senior executives from leading companies, and even one institutional investor. This diverse group brings invaluable expertise, mentoring, and connections to the table.

One of the key advantages of DAI’s approach is the ability to leverage our collective experience and extensive network. By doing so, we help open doors for our investees, providing them with the strategic guidance and partnerships that can accelerate their growth.

Collaborating with Leading Venture Funds

While we prefer to invest alongside established venture funds that take the lead in rounds, DAI has also taken the initiative as a lead investor in various seed and bridge funding rounds. This flexibility allows us to align with other investors and actively contribute to the growth and success of our portfolio companies.

Investment Amounts and Co-Investment Opportunities

DAI typically invests between $100,000 and $250,000 in each company we back. However, our approach also encourages co-investment, meaning that our members frequently join in additional investments alongside DAI. This collaborative model has allowed DAI and its co-investing members to contribute between $100,000 and $2,000,000 in initial investments across our entire portfolio.

Supporting Portfolio Companies for Long-Term Growth

At DAI, our commitment to the companies we invest in goes beyond the initial investment. For those companies that show strong traction after our first round of funding, we maintain a “dry powder” reserve, enabling us to deploy additional capital to further support their growth. Since our inception, DAI has made follow-on investments in five rounds, including two Series A rounds, ensuring that our portfolio companies continue to receive the financial backing they need as they scale
